To do so, he would interview survivors, and to accomplish that, he constructed a roster of who was actually there. The muster rolls were published in Custer in 1876, but without the information he had gathered about each soldier. Hordoff incorporates all the annotations made in Camps handwriting, and biographical information culled from Camps research papers and from other sources. The Indians, of course, are not named.
